Hey! My name is Cheyenne Sookoo.

I am a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist, based in Brooklyn NY. Emigrating from Trinidad & Tobago with my family, I have built my business from the ground up in my humble home in Crown Heights.

Visual arts have always been my outlet since a very young age. Starting my artistic journey in 2014, the desire to create art soon became an unyielding obligation to myself to explore the inner mechanism of my creative consciousness. My art is a highly personal reflection of myself. It takes influences from my Caribbean heritage, as seen by the vibrant use of color. But most importantly, I am greatly moved by the best artist in the entire universe, my God. The glory of His creation in this majestic universe is essentially the backbone of all my creations.

I create art that helps me feel more. They say that pain begets art... and it’s sad to say that sometimes we have to go through things, that in turn, inspire us. Over time, the cycles of disappointments, heartbreak, and depression can be numbing. So I’ve learned to be more in tune with my emotions, sit with them, and overcome them through a deep process of healing. I write poetry and prose that helps to create these new vivid pieces, which people can relate to. I’m always looking for the next opportunity to translate what I experience into art.

I create for myself... and whoever would like to join me on this journey of self-expression is welcome. I have experience in a range of media, although I have my own particular preferences that I keep coming back to. Even though I create primarily for myself, my work has been well-received by buyers and critics alike; a fact I don’t take lightly. If my style speaks to you, I’d love to work with you in the future.
